HoudahGeo 7.1.2

HoudahGeo 7.1 can now visualize viewing direction on the built-in map.
When you select an image whose location is outside the visible map area, the map now shows a hint pointing toward that location.
You can now copy and paste photo locations from Apple Photos onto photos within HoudahGeo.
HoudahGeo is now available in French. Help documentation is currently available in English and German only.
Memory usage for photo previews has been greatly reduced.
The Camera Clock Setup window can now resize as needed to work on very small screens.

HoudahGeo now remembers the size of the map.
Fixes a bug in camera clock setup when working with photos that include time zone information.

Works around an issue where Quick Look fails to create previews for some image files.
Addresses an issue where HoudahGeo can hang when the map should show a very large number of photo pins.
Minor bug fixes.

Improves performance and responsiveness of the interface for direct import from your camera.
Fixes issues with scaling and color profile of some images during Google Earth export.
Fixes a crash while loading the Apple Photos library.
Fixes a layout issue with the camera clock setup window.

The main window can now be resized to fit screens 800 pixels in height.
There is now an option to hide the toolbar and thus make more space for content.

Fixes a crash when importing images from a camera.
Addresses an issue where HoudahGeo erroneously reported some file formats as not being supported.
Fixes a bug that prevented the "Geocode using Google Earth" toolbar button from showing.
HoudahGeo can now show previews for some file formats not natively supported by macOS. E.g. Olympus .ORF.

Optimized for Apple Silicon – HoudahGeo is now fully native on Apple Silicon Macs.

As part of modernizing HoudahGeo, some lesser-used features have not been carried forward to HoudahGeo 7:

GPS device connectivity – HoudahGeo no longer connects directly to GPS devices. We recommend using a GPS device that supports USB Mass Storage mode, allowing direct access to log files without additional drivers. Alternatively, you can use the device manufacturer's software or the open-source GPSBabel application to download track logs.
macOS and application compatibility – HoudahGeo now requires macOS 12.4 or later and no longer supports Apple iPhoto or Aperture, which have been replaced by Apple Photos.
gps4cam support removed – The third-party iPhone application gps4cam was discontinued long ago. HoudahGeo 7 no longer includes direct support for it.
Flickr direct upload removed – HoudahGeo no longer supports direct uploads to Flickr. However, you can geotag your photos and videos with HoudahGeo and upload them manually using Flickr's web interface.
Mapbox maps not included – The new map experience in HoudahGeo 7 is built on Apple Maps. Mapbox maps are currently not available.
