Why can't I print from Adobe Acrobat on Mac?

Adobe Acrobat does not permit the use of PDF Services.

The workaround is to drag the icon of the PDF file directly onto the ACTPrinter Mac icon.

Error: Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported

Some applications - including Adobe Acrobat - block the use of PDF Services from the print panel. This prevents the use of ACTPrinter's "Print to ACTPrinter" command.

The most likely cause for the problem is either a firewall or a router blocking Apple Bonjour network traffic.

Please verify that your firewall and router let pass Bonjour broadcast traffic. The port numbers are TCP 5354 and UDP 5353

Instructions for AVG version 9.0.709:

  1. In Firewall Settings > Applications change the settings for iTunes and Apple Bonjour for windows to "allow for all"
  2. Now go to system services >Manage user system rules
  3. Add rule:
    protocol: TCP
    local port: 5354
    remote port: all ports
remote addresses: check the box for safe networks
  4. Add rule:
    protocol: UDP
    local port: 5353
    remote port: all ports
remote addresses: check the box for safe networks
  5. In order to also enable iTunes Music Sharing, you may want to add the following rule:
    protocol: TCP
    direction: both ways
    local port: 3689
    remote port: all ports
remote addresses: check the box for safe networks

By not checking "all networks" and instead checking "safe networks" this excludes the internet (unless you've defined it as safe, which is definitely unwise), which minimizes the risk of attack to your PC.
