Top Customer Issues

  • General Questions
  • What does ACT stand for?
ACT stands for "All Cocoa Touch". This is the name of the frameworks which Apple provides for developers on the iPhone.

The ACT prefix serves to distinguish our Mac applications from our iPhone applications. Indeed, our Mac applications share the Houdah prefix. E.g. HoudahSpot & HoudahGeo
  • The application does not work!
On occasion, you may download an application form the iTunes App Store only to find it doesn't launch: The screen remains black.

We can assure you our applications were in working order when submitted to Apple. Additionally, Apple tests all applications before publishing them to the App Store. Thus we can conclude that the problem was introduced during the download process.

SOLUTION 1: Remove all traces of the affected application and then re-download (buy) it. iTunes will notice that you already own a license and offer you a free download.

SOLUTION 2: There seems to be a bug in the iPhone / iPod operating system where no third-party application may be launched. Rebooting the iPhone solves this temporary problem.
  • Where can I purchase iPhone applications?
Houdah Software's iPhone applications are available exclusively in Apple's AppStore on iPhone, iPod Touch or iTunes 7.7 or later.
  • ACTSudoku
  • How many game boards are included?
ACTSudoku constantly generates fresh game boards. There is no limit. You will never run out of fresh games.
  • How hard are the games?
ACTSudoku gives you a choice of 3 difficulty levels. Easy games typically take 5 minutes to solve - with automatic markers enabled. Hard games often take 40 minutes and up!
  • What if I get a phone call?
Your game will be suspended. You may come back later to resume the game.
  • Can I record best times?
Recording best times would not make much sense. As game boards are generated, no two players will get to play the same game. Thus there will be no common ground for comparing times.
  • It's too easy! ACTSudoku gives out the solution
If you find the Sudoku puzzle to be too easy to solve using automatic markers, you may go to the Settings application and disable them.

You may also try yourself at a harder game. A "hard" game takes about 40 minutes to solve - with automatic markers enabled!
  • Can I disable automatic markers?
Sure. Go to the global Settings application. You will find a section for ACTSudoku settings.
  • Does it need an Internet connection?
    No.
  • ACTCurrency
  • Where is the "=" key?
You won't need and "=" or "enter" key. ACTCurrency computes the converted value as you type.
  • Which currencies are supported?
ACTCurrency is a universal currency converter. You may configure it for any number of currencies.
  • What are the 3 number fields?
The top field shows the value you have entered. The field below shows that value converted TO your local currency. The next field shows that same original value converted FROM your local currency.

E.g. you enter 100. It will show that 100 EUR are 157.57 USD. It will also show that 100 USD are 63.40 EUR.
  • How can I look up exchange rates?
Imagine your home currency is the USD. Now, you want to add the Honduran Lempir to the list of currencies.

For this you would head to www.google.com and enter the following: "1 HNL in USD". It will reply with the value you need to enter in ACTCurrency. E.g. "1 Honduran lempir = 0.052918 U.S. dollars"
  • Where does it get exchange rates from?
You have to enter exchange rates yourself. Typically you would do so while preparing your trip.
  • Does it need an Internet connection?
    No.
  • ACTGratuity
  • Where is the "=" key?
You won't need and "=" or "enter" key. ACTCurrency computes tips as you type.
  • What is good service?
Service quality and thus tip level are left to your good judgement.
  • What is an appropriate tip?
In the USA, waiters are usually tipped 15%. You may tip lower for less than expected service. Don't forget to reward exceptional service with a bigger tip.
  • Where is the "split" function?
ALERT: Due to a bug in the iTunes AppStore, your ACTGratuity download may still contain version 1.0 rather than version 2.0 which is advertised. Worry not, ACTGratuity 2.0 has been submitted to Apple and will shortly be in your hands. It's a FREE upgrade. Version 1.0 lacks the bill splitting feature and only calculates the tip for 4 preset percentages.

  • Is the tip percentage configurable?
ACTGratuity 2.0 will let you set any percentage between 12.5% and 20%. Please reward good service with an appropriate tip.
  • Does it need an Internet connection?
